Sun Valley Community School is a principal sponsor of HDCC allowing it to operate under its 501(c)3 designation. With a fifty year history of competing athletically in Gooding, Camas, Lincoln, and Elmore Counties, SVCS’s sponsorship was a tangible way to not only extend its mission, but help to raise the aspirations of all Idaho’s students. In its first year, Kevin Lancaster, superintendent of Bliss School District and an early supporter of HDCC’s vision, helped recruit Wendell and Hagerman School Districts to join the collaborative, and in 2021 Camas County and Glenns Ferry School Districts joined along with Boise State University’s College of Education. Three new school districts – Richfield, Shoshone, and Dietrich – joined the collaborative in 2022 along with the College of Southern Idaho. Carey School, representing our first member from Blaine County, joined in the fall of 2023. Additionally, the Idaho College Savings Program (IDeal) is working with scholarship recipients to assist them in opening up a tax free 529 Education Savings Plan which is specifically designed to help families save for any kind of college and/or internship. Our vision is to build a strong network of public – private entities that can further support student aspirations in Idaho.
