Winter Update 2024

Dear Friends and Supporters of HDCC:

I hope our HDCC year four winter update finds you well. I have just finished several weeks of travel to our nine collaborative school districts – Bliss, Wendell, Hagerman, Camas County, Glenns Ferry, Richfield, Shoshone, Dietrich, and Carey – where I hosted 35 aspirational workshops in grades 5-8. The scholarship application process now commences and will culminate in the presentation of 225 $125 scholarship awards later this spring.

We were fortunate again to utilize college student voices (via Zoom) from Boise State University with grades 7 and 8. I am always impressed with how well the college students connect with the middle schoolers and share their narratives with conviction and authenticity.

I encourage you to get a cup of tea and take five minutes to read HDCC’s latest article, Inspiring Aspirations and Promising Futures, which will feature in Sun Valley Community School’s Here and There (school publication) this month. It captures the positive involvement and impact that HDCC is having in our collaborative schools.

In the meantime, thank you for your continued interest and support of HDCC’s mission to inspire the youth of rural Idaho to pursue educational opportunities beyond high school so they will be empowered to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

On behalf of HDCC,

Bags Brokaw, Founder
